Visit the Cardiff Castle
One of Wales’s best known attractions, Cardiff Castle is located in the heart of the city centre and boasts 2000 years of history. The exterior is impressive with its elaborate stone carvings, but it is the restored interior that attracts most visitors’ attention. The furnishings and décor are elegant and the 12th century Norman keep in the centre of the structure offers unrivalled city views.
Tour Cardiff Museums
The national museum and gallery is located just north of the city centre on the University of Wales’ campus and features many arts and science displays. The museum’s highlight is its fabulous galleries that contain mainly famous international works, while other exhibitions cover the evolution of Wales through art and historic artefacts. There are also many interactive displays here for the kids. Techniquest is similar to London’s science museum and is located in Cardiff Bay. The main draws are the Planetarium and the Science Theatre, while dozens of interactive exhibits will keep kids of all ages happy.
Enjoy Cardiff's Amazing Music and Theatre
The Welsh are renowned for their vocal talents and many top bands began here. There are several well known clubs in the city with live music nightly and some big name artists and lesser musicians can be seen. St David’s Hall is the number one nightspot in town for rock and pop concerts and is one of the UK’s leading centers of music. It offers an exciting and extensive year-round programme which includes visits by some of the world’s foremost orchestras, soloists, and top international conductors. The Welsh National Opera can often be seen here and are widely revered the world over. In addition to St David’s Hall, Cardiff also sports several other smaller theatres.
Visit the Millenium Stadium
Cardiff's Rugby Football Club is over 100 years old and is today represented by the impressive Millennium Stadium, which was built in time just before the Rugby World Cup in 1999. Important football matches are also held here, including several bouts of the FA Cup final while the new Wembley Stadium was being constructed.
